One of the first projects that I worked on with The Basement won an AIGA Prime design award and rather than writing the entire blog post out I thought I would post what was said on The Basement’s Website. This project was a learning experience for me. Coming to a new company and learning their ways is always a time consuming process and a learning curve is always expected so that being said, read the post and Congrats to all the Dwellers on their hard work.

“The Basement Design + Motion and client Miles Design have been awarded an AIGA Prime design award for our work on the www.knozone.com website. The winning entries will be on display Friday, November 6 at the Dean Johnson Gallery, and will be published in a book early next year, celebrating Indianapolis design. The team from The Basement Design + Motion would love to see you there. For more info, please visit: http://indianapolis.aiga.org/events/2009/11/35311049

AIGA, the professional association for design, stimulates thinking about design, demonstrates the value of design and empowers the success of designers at each stage of their careers. AIGA’s mission is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force. Founded in 1914, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design, and is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational institution.

The Basement Design + Motion is a digital design studio specializing in concept, design and production of contemporary interface design, motion graphics, Flash games, and animation for the web and TV.”

I always like to support all the groups and organizations in my local area and here is a great one called Refresh Indy.I’m putting up an email sent to me from Justin Harter about the next meeting and location. Please come out and support the local groups.

“Hello Everyone!

Next month will mark an important milestone for Refresh: we’re turning 1 year old! For a lot of meetups that meet once or twice and fizzle out, this is an astonishing achievement. I’m happy to have continued support from many of you.

So, to celebrate we’re shaking things up next month and we’re moving from our regular meeting location at the RAM to a couple blocks over to Jillian’s. Refreshers Aaron Dudenhofer and Kevin Finney have recently completed work on the Jillian’s website (http://jilliansindianapolis.com) and because of their hard work, their contact at Jillian’s has graciously extended us their High Life Lounge for no charge on Wednesday November 4, 2009 from 7 to 10 pm.

Everyone can order food and drinks off of their menu and we’ve reserved 3 bowling lanes at Jillian’s. The cost per person to bowl, which includes the cost of shoes, will depend on how many people sign up to attend. If we can confirm at least 24 people, we can have three lanes all to ourselves for two hours straight for less than $15 per person. The more we sign up, the less it’ll cost each of us. Since the cost can fluctuate slightly on the cost of bowling, we’ll be updating http://refreshindy.com as more people sign up.

All I ask is that you RSVP for this event no later than Monday, November 2 at 6 PM. Again, the meetup will be held on Wednesday, November 4 from 7 to 10 pm.

To RSVP, simply visit http://refreshindy.com and sign up. We’ll be posting the number of confirmed attendees as people sign up.

Again, thanks for your continued support. We’ll also be discussing plans for our next year at the November 4th meetup, including our future meeting location and projects.

Cheers,

Justin Harter
